It started as a joke.

Ralph was one of the few people at the camp who had a vehicle, who had a vehicle that was heavy enough to roll through the massive amounts of snow that often fell here over the course of an entire winter, and whose vehicle was actually fit enough to start on a cold morning.

Sally had a sled. She had a sled and a length of rope, and one day thought that it would be amusing to tie the length of rope to Ralph's bumper and let Ralph take her for a ride. Though Ralph believed this be unsafe, Sally was absolutely beautiful, and one slight toss of her golden curly hair made Ralph do anything that she wanted.

The laughter echoed through the camp as Ralph simply drove around in circles, towing Sally on her Flexible Flyer sled behind him. She held on for dear life, though Ralph could not have been going faster than five miles an hour. Sally was terrified that she would be thrown from the sled and into a tree lining the path that Ralph had started to drive down.

The next day, Sally's younger roommate Francine brought her sled outside, and Sally asked if they could find another length of rope for Francine. Ralph was definitely nervous about that, but Sally smiled and all Ralph could do was go looking for another length of rope.

By the time the last snow fell on the camp, everyone who had a sled had asked Sally to ask Ralph to give them a ride. And Ralph was always happy to oblige.
