I really don't remember how exactly I got to this point, but I'm here, so I might as well just deal with it.
"We should really head back now. It's getting too dark."
"No, let's stay. I'm sure the sun will come up every second now."
"Are you serious? It's..."
She couldn't read her watch. It displayed just symbols, like mine. They must have broken when we crashed onto that sidewalk. We're unstuck in time now.
"Isn't it late at night? The sun's not gonna come up for another few hours."
"No, it'll come up. You'll see."
We waited for what could've been seconds or hours, depending on which side your on. It came up, eventually, but we were at a different place now. With different people.
"I don't see how this could work. It just doesn't make any sense."
"It will work, trust me."
I pushed the raft into the river, grabbed the backs of everyone and we took off. She seemed scared.
"You have to watch out for arrows. Sometimes the bush men attack visitors."
It was mean to say that to her, but unfortunately, I had to. We won't be here for long anyway. I switched to German. That's her mother language.
"Wovor hast du Angst?"
"I don't want it to end."
"Es wird enden."
"That's what I'm afraid of."
When we were entering the foyer, I grabbed her hand. I knew, I wouldn't let it go for the rest of the trip, and that it would eventually be our demise, but I had to.
"Where's that guy you were looking for?"
"You'll see him, when he's here. Just relax."
We entered a room at the end of the hall. It'll be over soon. We've never gone further than that room. Inside, there was her bedroom again.
We lie down on her bed. That's it for me.
As I rested my head on his shoulder, to hear his heart beat, I noticed a shadow in the corner, coming closer. I tried to scream, but my throat was paralized. I tried to wake up Sam, but he didn't move. The shadow was coming closer. I tried to punch Sam over and over again, to wake him up, to protect me, but I just couldn't. It was like my arm pulled back at the last second. I wanted to run, by he was still holding my hand tightly. He was to heavy to pull. The shadow came so close, but I couldn't make out a face. All became black. I lost orientation. My hand searched for the light switch. With a flick, all black was gone, except for that tiny spot in the back of my head, that will haunt me for the rest of the day.
