It wasn't easy to stack the gold bars in the cellar. Very heavy. I kept one in my bedroom so I could look at it whenever I wanted. Part of me was trying to warn there was something strange going on, another (the greedy part) knew that it was synchroncity that worked this for me.

Cousin Marty told me about the new shop between the Chinese Grocery store and the old-fashioned chemist. Strange as I'd never noticed the shop even though it was supposed to have been there for the last month. Marty showed me the rare whisky he'd bought, usually only for the likes of high rolling collectors. It was dirt cheap to buy and he couldn't believe it. Either the story owner was a bit simple and unaware the value of his goods, or else rich and didn't need the money.

I didn't care what the reason. I had my gold bars and that is all that mattered to me. Always wanted some.

I thought of telling Cora about the store, but decided against it. Maybe there was something else I might want for myself. I had a very long wish list and I had a feeling I would find it.

Kind of reminded me of Needful Things by Steven King.

Strangely enough the store owner had that kind of reptilian evil look about him.

A chill came over me.

I went back down to the cellar and touched the gold.

It felt lovely.

Six minute story is brilliant as a daily mental excercise to write on a variety of topics. It involves a lot of trial and error before I finish in the given time.

I am often surprised which of my stories receive the most views, often those I planned to delete.
