What does it mean to go the distance? Does it mean to beat everyone else or to beat yourself? When you grow up, parents, teachers, and coaches tell you to "do your best". But we all know thats bullshit in the capitalist society we live in America. Its dog eat dog. Kill or be killed and everyone is in it for themselves. Maybe you can trust your family and a couple friends but thats it. "Go the distance" cliched. Easier said than done. What does it really mean? Beat everyone else. Be better. No one cares what you're doing unless you're the winner. No one wants a first loser. Ill go the distance for the rest of my life. I will always push myself to be better. I just don't want to lose myself along the way. I want to find me. Why are we searching for the end of the tunnel? If the fun is in the journey, why are we so focused on the end result? Its the end result that kills you in the end anyway because its always dissatisfying. Its less than what you expect. Rarely are the things we imagine turn out to be just as good. So keep going the distance and you'll get lost in the crowd of other people chasing the light at the end of the tunnel. You'll be unsatisfied when you get there. Me? Ill be here.
