I had been running for just over an hour, almost breathless. Whose idea was it to train for this marathon anyways? I've always liked running, but never really enjoyed it, you know? There are only so many routes you can take. This time, I decided to say screw the concrete jungle, I'm going to take this somewhere different. So I took to the hills, as they say. Not gonna lie, it was much more interesting than running on pavement. The damp grass under my shoes, the crunching of the twigs, all that good stuff. I stopped at the top of a hill trying to catch my breath, and the view caught me by surprise.

Why had I never seen this before?

Oh, right, city living. This was always just a short ways away, and I never knew. I changed the music to something a little more laid back, a little Mozart never hurt anyone right? And I watched. Watched the trees blowing in the breeze. The birds flying, gliding overhead. Little animals scurrying around. I've been missing out.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen a butterfly in years.

Well written! I like the change of character with the change of scenery. :D

Always reading, never written. Well, other than in journals that I've been keeping since the 6th grade. Time for something different?
