We've heard of monkeys. All kinds of monkeys. We've heard that we're most closely genetically related to bonobos, we've heard about the flying monkeys of Oz, but what we certainly haven't heard enough about is the infamous "Green Monkeys of Bainsville." You're wondering, what are these fascinating creatures, and where do they originate? Well, if you don't know where Bainsville is...you probably never will. It's tiny. It's known for little else than it's rest stop, although it should be known for it's green monkeys. These devilish little creatures love nothing more than getting up to good old fashioned South Glengarry mischief. Reports of "soil contamination" were deemed the reason for shutting down the old Wendy's. Silly municipal council! It was the MONKEYS. They felt strongly they should have more input on the political goings on in their hometown, so of course they contaminated the specific plots of soil where samples were taken! THEY'RE PSYCHIC, for goodness sake. In addition to soil contaminating and paranormal abilities, these fascinating creatures excel in being discreet and invisible, crotcheting afghans for their young, and of course, perusing recycled copies of the Glengarry News! These monkeys are known by few, but adored by their acquaintences. If Darwin knew them, he would certainly turn over in his grave...

This is a remarkable short story. And believe it or not, I have actually been to Bainsville. Several times. It is a wonderful place. It even has a replica of the Statue of Liberty, only bigger.
