1. Who operates the site

Six Minute Story (sixminutestory.com) is operated by Galen Sanford. Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or submit content. By using the site you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Your content and its license

You own your stories

You retain full copyright in anything you write on Six Minute Story. We do not claim ownership of your content.

Creative Commons license

By submitting a story to Six Minute Story, you choose a Creative Commons 4.0 license to publish it under. If you do not want your work published under a Creative Commons license, do not submit it to Six Minute Story.

Use in Six Minute Story publications

In addition to the CC BY 4.0 license above, by submitting a story you grant Six Minute Story a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual right to reproduce, adapt, and distribute your story — with attribution — in Six Minute Story's own publications. These include, but are not limited to:

• Printed or digital coffee table books collecting stories from the site
• A monthly zine or similar periodical featuring selected stories
• Journals and other print or digital collections owned and published by Six Minute Story
• Promotional materials for Six Minute Story

Attribution will always be given under the name or pseudonym associated with your account. We will never sell your story to a third party; this grant covers only Six Minute Story's own publications.

4. Account rules

• Provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• Do not create accounts to harass, impersonate, or spam other users.
• One account per person unless we agree otherwise.

5. Content standards

You agree not to submit content that:

• Is unlawful, threatening, abusive, or harasses any individual.
• Infringes any third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
• Contains malware, spam, or unsolicited advertising.
• Is sexually explicit in a way that could harm minors.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these standards and to disable accounts that repeatedly violate them.

6. Prompts

Writing prompts on the site are provided for inspiration. We make no claim that using a prompt transfers any rights to you beyond the right to write freely. Suggested prompts you submit may be edited, published, or declined at our discretion.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Six Minute Story is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site will be available, error-free, or secure at all times. Use it at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Six Minute Story and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the site or its content.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing [email protected]. Stories you published before account deletion remain on the site under the CC BY 4.0 license unless you request removal.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use of Six Minute Story after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
