I'm not sure how it will end between us. I am not sure about the middle. I can't even promise that I'll remember how it began.

But what I can promise is that in years to come, your friend or your girlfriend or your child will ask you to tell the story of us. and when they do, I can promise you that you will smile.

I won't matter how it ended or how it started. In that moment, you'll pause, and smile because you'll remember the bit that made it great in between.

"She was an optimist" You'll say. "She believed in love and God and had unyielding faith that everything would work out. She had a bad reputation and she hated it, but she knew that she had earned it and that it made her who she was. She was crazy and she was passionate. She spoke with enthusiasm and loved to laugh. She cried easily at films but found real life harder to connect with.

"Whenever I was hurting, ill or sad, she would do everything in her power to make me feel better. She loved to take care of me and loved to be taken care of as well. She was unforgettable."

I promise that those will be the words you speak when they ask about me.

And I promise you that you'll mean every word of it.

Just as I promise to always be that girl for you.
