"I'm dead. Really dead. Not in the "there'll be a twist at the end and I'll be saved" kind of way. Just dead."

At least I assumed so otherwise they never would have activated my Stored Intelligence Module.

Dad had been the brains so when he died I had been all too happy to sell out to Graftech. I had paid for the deluxe package and knew that when I died I would be downloaded into my custom android body.

But then had come the stock-market crash of 2241 and all that had changed. I lost virtually everything and now it appeared I had even lost my life.

I had managed to hang on to the storage rights though but if I wanted a body I would have to earn it. I looked through the list of jobs, saw one and clicked accept.

It's not a bad life being a zom

Damn! Out of time again. The crux of the story was that in order to earn enough credits for a basic robotic body (android bodies being too expensive) I would have to work.

Jobs being stuff like the SI running an automated factory, face recognition software, Internet call centre etc. Being a wastrel the job I finally settled for was as an 'AI' zombie in a computer game.
