The last thing before the end
Once again I found myself wondering what we were doing. If anyone had told me that I would have found meaning at the bottom of a dark place trying to keep the world safe froma secret that wasn't mind-numbing, but mass panic and hysteria wouldn't be too far from the expected.
It was still a terrible thing to be haunted by things that really just wanted to be a part of the sunshine and sky again.
I was what you could call a keeper of dragons. But the truth about dragons I have found out is they are what we imagine them to be.
They aren't alive like you and I. Rather they exist somewhere between hibernation and active restriction.
I was part of a family that had vowed to always make sure they never woke up from their slumber.
When I decided that was done watering their mouths and feeding them the left-overs from the butchers, my dad nagged me again.
"Hoi! Did you make sure you lashed the big one and the small one together."
I replied with a mumble.
I had homework didn't I?
I was at school when the end started.
I wish dad hadn't distracted me was the last thing I remember before the shower of flame.
It was the small one
He was the most dangerous and vengeful of them all.
