She looked at the words on the page. 'It was a pleasure to burn.' She read them upside down, glancing sneakily across the dark wooden table at the book open in front of her fellow library user. Kelly needed to get to work, she'd had a number of extensions already granted on her final essay, she had to get finished this week. But she couldn't take her eyes off the person in front of her. She was acting oddly, not turning the page, staring at that one sentence. Then, a giggle escaped the girl's lips and she flung her head up and stared directly at Kelly; catching her watching. Kelly looked down but felt the girl still staring. She leaned towards Kelly and whispered something. Looking up Kelly felt goosebumps as she noted the girl's expression. Did she hear her correctly? She leaned forward and said to Kelly 'It is a pleasure to burn.' Again the giggle.
She wrote something down and shoved it towards her.
'Come tonight.'
You'll see. The strange girl got up and left.
It should read 'Come tonight. You'll see.' But the timer ran out so couldn't go back to change it. ;0)
OOoO! All sorts of possibilities here! Way to leave the reader wondering :D
Oh I love it!!! More more... that is brilliant and I love the way you are left guessing what was going on. Well done. Glad to see from your bio that you enjoyed writing it too!!
