Tigger was not just any old Maine Coon Cat. He was *the* Maine Coon Catt. It was perhaps a lengthy code name for a spy but he liked it all the same.
He unfolded the small piece of paper that had been folded up inside the sole of the shoe he had just been handed at the dry cleaners.
"Distract the Family Dog Captain," it read.
Tigger knew the Family Dog and knew that distracting him from his important task of manning the security barrier that led from the A Zone into Second Street and beyond would not be easy. And worst of all, he knew that the Neighbourhood Fox was still operating in this district.
He would have to adapt his plans.
He strode out onto the pavement and came face to face with the Fox. She smiled and raised her eye brow. "Shoes needed fixing again? You should get a better pair."
"I like them. They fit." Tigger replied.
"Of course. It's important to feel like you can walk anywhere in your shoes. But of course, you know there are always some places those shoes cannot take you." She smiles sweetly and walked on.
I wondered if she knew that the Family Dog Captain was my target. I walked on and turned into a side street.
She was there again. A gun to my chest. "You can leave the Dog right alone, ok? This section might be yours but you can't go wider. You understand?"
I nodded. Damn shoes.
